The sabbath was created for man, not man for the sabbath. The laws, including the sabbath, were created to be good for the people. The pharisees, however, were interested only in obeying the law to look good. Their rationale for obeying the laws was because it was the law. And that just by obeying the law, you would be righteous. They completely missed the point of the laws (and the sabbath), by using the law as a means to elevate themselves above others, and as a means to condemn others. In other words, they took the law out of it’s intended purpose, and used it for their own gain. Ironically, though, they neglected the first two commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and Love your neighbor as yourself.

At least, I think that’s what it is.

To get a picture you need to register an account on http://wordpress.com and I don’t think there’s anyway to format comments, sorry :-( .

I don’t want to just give a quick, poorly-worded answer so I’m not going to explain my understanding of this now, but sometime over Christmas I will make sure that I take the time to do this.
However, I will give a quick answer: I don’t believe it ever _explicitly_ says that “Jesus cancelled the Old Laws”; rather, it’s inferred from a lot of other stuff. I still believe it’s clear from everything else, but it’s not a one-line answer.

PS. How do I get a picture to show up for my post? And is formatting possible? My underlines kind of suck.

Please answer my question and not appeal to emotion. Where did Jesus make the laws of the Covenant obsolete?

Committs murder or robbery. Yet man thinks he will break God’s laws (The Ten Commandments) and get away with it? That is why Jesus came to take the punishment you deserve because you break God’s laws everyday. He is the “advocate” attorney.
