Conservative FAIL
Ian | 21 November, 2008 | 10:44Perhaps Harper needs to go back to school and learn some more economics. Lowering taxes and raising spending, while entering a recession, is not the best time to promise that you won’t go into a deficit.
For some reason, people still think neo-cons know something about economics. They don’t. They know about giving money to big business and big religion.
From the Globe and Mail (emphasis added):
Why the economic outlook appears gloomy
1. Plunging commodity prices will reduce the government’s revenue by shrinking corporate profits and personal incomes.
2. Exports will slump because of weaker demand from the United States and other countries, making layoffs at factories likely.
3. The government’s decision to cut the Goods and Services Tax and boost spending has shrunk the surplus to its smallest in years.
4. Canada’s economy is on track to grow at a fraction of the 1.7-per-cent pace the government expected in February, and even risks contracting.
5. Consumer and business confidence has deteriorated.
It’s not clear whether or not Harper knew the market would die like it did, but he definitely knew Canada wasn’t in a good spot when he called the election.
Now it just seems really convenient for him to have a stronger minority.
Are the libertarians and fiscal conservatives tired of Harper selling the country out? Can you fracture from him and his detrimental policies that are destroying our country?
We already know the left doesn’t like him.
The title is completely redundant. I can’t shake the feeling that Harper wants to destroy the country. I’ll go find my tinfoil hat.
Ok, I give up on the conservatives and voted NDP, and Green the time before. But Jack is no Obama.
