Why is okay to neglect children’s rights?
Ian | 18 May, 2009 | 15:32Parents need their rights, the government of Alberta argues.
Didn’t men, a hundred years ago, demand laws to respect their “rights” to keep women at home cleaning?
Didn’t slave-owners call for rights to protect their “property” and do with as they pleased?
Why are we willing to grant parents the “right” to keep their children ignorant?
Since when was knowledge something we wanted to protect people from?
Perhaps once they pass Bill 44 they can start clearing out the child labour laws so parents can have the “right” to put their children to work…
Oh wait, we already let children aged 12 work.
No wonder young adults don’t vote, they’ve become total wage-slaves after 6 years of working menial jobs and can’t fathom change.
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that.
Ya because your hypothetical Economics class and the real world are totally the same thing. Try to learn what socialism is before you post, and you know, perhaps post your absurd argument on a topic that is at least semi-related.
Then again, if you’re stupid enough to fall for the hypothetical tale you just posted, you probably aren’t capable of figuring out it has nothing to do with the topic of the post you commented on.
I do not believe the poster cares that it is unrelated to the topic at hand. Merely that the site owner/blogger is a rampant socialist. The atheism is of course spot on and shows some rationality. However being a socialist negates all the logic of natural selection inherent in being an atheist and removes the evolutionary force from the gene pool.
Socialism is easy to define: mediocrity with destruction of those better than the norm. Historical examples where socialism was the dominant political system include both germany under hitler, and the obviously successful and still existent USSR.
Perhaps you would provide some benefits? (of course I do not consider genocide a benefit, but as a socialist you may; please try to provide other examples)
How does the non-progressive nature of socialism via the removal of evolutionary force by natural selection further the human race?
Neither Germany nor the Soviet Union practiced socialism, they may have claimed to, but they did not. Both those systems would be correctly identified as fascist, a right wind ideology. Again, perhaps read a book or learn what socialism actually is rather than repeat fallacious arguments.
Want examples of socialism working, look at places like Norway and Sweden. They have much more stable economies than Canada or Alberta have right now, and are not suffering to the same extent as other countries from the current capitalist created global economic crisis. They’re better off than us right now, but that must be because they’re doing something wrong, right?
I’m on Denny’s side.
Haha, the ignorance abounds! Just because your grade school teacher told you nazi germany was right wing does not make it so… The right wing is characterized by an absence of government interference in the economy. Both Nazi germany and the USSR made extensive use of state-controlled industries. Both nazi germany and the USSR had extensive social programs including state supported child care facilities and health care, characteristic of socialism. Of course perhaps thinking of the genocidal dictators eventually innate to socialism does not give you the warm fuzzy feeling that you get by supporting your sesame street-version of socialism so you avoid thinking about it right?

Of course you can attempt to justify socialism by mentioning Norway and Sweden because their version of socialism has them at an economic advantage currently, however what brought germany out of the depression in the 30s? The Nazis version of socialism. I don’t know about you, but I would find it preferable to suffer the ups and downs of a free market, rather than suffer under a genocidal dictator. But as a socialist you likely cannot grasp such a concept.
There are so many different ways to get know something about this topic. You would without the problems go to online writing jobs and receive everything that is required!
