]]>Regarding the “similarity to cats” line, it could be construed as an argument for creation if the reader ignores two other observations (i.e. that other apes are even closer to us, and that the similarities diverge the further away from Mammalia you go). For him to deny the first observation would likely require a piece of deliberate misrepresentation (in the same vein as “we haven’t seen one transitional fossil”, a lie repeated often enough from a position of authority to be taken as truth). In other words, if you don’t understand modern biology, a single factoid out of context combined with a lie actually contributes more to disinformation than the lie itself – or, more eloquently, (only) a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
