New comment policy
I’ve had an increase in spam comments recently so all new commenters will require approval before they can post. I’m not sure if this works retroactively, but I don’t intend to block any comments (except spam links).

Are you running the Akismet anti-spam plugin? Over on my blog it’s blocked 222,232 spam comments for me already.
That said, I do agree that turning on “new commenters require approval” is a good idea. But I do both!

I do have Akismet and Spam Karma 2, but a lot of knock-off Puma shoe ads were getting through recently.
I guess you also inadvertently answered my other question since your comment didn’t require approval. All past commenters are approved for future comments.
