Did you know that US CDC data show that you are 1,000 times more likely to be injured or killed in a traffic accident on your way to pick up your raw milk than you are to be sickened by that raw milk? Why aren’t we banning cars instead of raw milk?

Nothing annoys me more than the innumeracy of those don’t understand risk. According to CDC data, you are about six times more likely to be struck by lightening than you are to be sickened by raw milk. Hey, let’s ban standing outside in a thunderstorm!

According to Dr. Ted Beals, you are 35,000 times more likely to be sickened by luncheon meat than you are raw milk. Why do we allow such dangerous products to be sold, while criminalizing raw milk sales?

There are reputable, peer-reviewed studies that show the benefits of raw milk, such as the European study that showed an 82% decrease in asthma and allergies in children who drank raw milk. But to benefit from this, you have to become a criminal, because people like Ian have irrational, unquestioned faith in what they are told by a few bureaucrats.

Do you really care about the safety of raw milk, Ian? If so, then make it legal and regulate the heck out of it. Otherwise, you’re just turning people who believe that it aids what ails them into criminals. Don’t we have enough criminal already, without turning well-meaning, health-conscious people into them?
