Honestly, I haven’t been impressed so far with Thomas Mulcair’s campaign for the NDP leadership.
His promise to move the party to the centre is worrying and threatens the progress we’ve made in growing a progressive choice in Canada. His NAFTA positioning is a bit worrying. He sounded a bit whiny with regards to building the Quebec membership before he joined the race and he’s been repeatedly described as “hard to deal with” by the media. Although, on that last count, I’m wondering if there isn’t a “repeat it until it’s true” mantra going on.
But my impressions have improved today when I got a personal email and phone call from Mulcair’s press secretary.
Nothing goes to a blogger’s head more than being treated like the real media.
It turns out their goal is to reach through alternative media, blogs, and other online sources to build support within the party, while (somewhat) eschewing the traditional media.
This means I have the ability to take my issues and concerns directly to a man who could be our next prime minister.
So let me know what questions you have for Mr. Mulcair, and I’ll try to get them through. He will supposedly be in BC next week, so there may even be an opportunity for some live Q&A.
