Its a Shame, Blue is Such a Nice Colour in Most Contexts

It appears that Linda Duncan may have just barely squeaked by:

Lets take a look at what happened to my riding:

Rather impressive for being too damn old to campaign. Laurie Hawn refused to visit the Centre High social studies class (which my brother is in) because he "prefers to speak to voters" (says the campaign official that the teacher spoke to), nevermind that everyone in that class is over 18 years old(the official was informed and still refused to bother asking).
I suppose, though that this really isn't so bad, I know a number of people who live in Edmonton - Spruce Grove:

Party - Candidate - Votes - % Votes
Conservative - Rona Ambrose - 36,402 - 68.5
Liberal - Chris Austin - 6,109 - 11.5%

Green Party - Wendy Walker - 3,975 - 7.5

I probably don't need to say this, but Rona Ambrose is a truly Horrible politician. She was our environment minister for a short while, but she didn't go to a number of the conferences and embarrassed our country on the world stage. Edmonton's mayor Steven Mandel is an appallingly difficult to notice politician and he managed to upstage her when she came to town (she arrived in a van, he took the LRT). The Harper government cannot be motivated to do anything of substance, and they still sacked her. All this and the vile creature took almost 6:1 against her runner up. Disgusting. Alberta makes me sick.

  1. Luck may have had something to do with it. One self-described “witch” claimed the full moon would come down and bring power to female candidates…

Personally, I think Linda ran an amazing campaign and had so many volunteers that every person door knocking and calling made a difference. This is a win for every progressive citizen of Alberta.
